Pander McPanderson Chooses a Creationist for VP

Posted by Matt Homer

John McCain has chosen Alaska Governor Sarah Palin as his running mate. Not that I had high hopes for the McCain campaign, but I had hoped the man who called Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson agents of intolerance wouldn't have chosen a fundamentalist as his running mate. Alas Palin is an extremely conservative fundamentalist who supports the teaching of creationism in public schools.

In unrelated political news Senator Elizabeth Dole (R-NC) attacks democratic opponant Kay Hagan for attending a fundraiser hosted by non-believers. Read more at The Friendly Atheist.

Ugh! Both of these stories just disgusts me!

I didn't know all these things about McCain's new VP pick. I thought, great she's a woman. A woman no one's ever heard of, and he's proabably just picking er to get people to vote for him and a woman into office. But it seems that's not the only reason.

The fact that she's a huge gun toting, pro-no-choice, evangelical chistian only puts an intensely sour taste in my mouth. All of this to save his evangelical and catholic votes.

Do everyone a favor people, don't vote for someone because their black, or their a woman. It'll make history, but what really makes history is what politicians can do for the country. I am almost absolutely positive voting for McCain and his nasty little minions will only confirm the continuing fall of America.

As with North Carolina's senator bashing on her challenger Kay Hagan for simply accepting the support of a secular group, I'm very glad it's getting attntion. At least someone out there is actually open to recieving the support of freethinkers. It really is about civil rights. This is yet another example of how us Godless Americans are viewed and disciminated against.
